Children's Department
Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
and
Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD)

Parents often hastily label their children with this diagnosis, usually referring to ADHD, due to a lack of awareness that it is a clinical diagnosis, not merely a descriptive term.

Children are often active and noisy, but does that mean every active child has ADHD?
The answer is obviously no, and it’s crucial not to rush to conclusions.

Some children predominantly experience hyperactivity, impulsivity, and difficulty maintaining consistent focus, while others might display excessive impulsivity or a combination of both issues.

Psychologists and medical professionals use specific questionnaires for parents and teachers to fill out to confirm or rule out the diagnosis. They also assess the child’s behavior through observation and evaluation.

Three Primary Types of ADHD Based on Questionnaire Analysis:
Predominantly Inattentive Type: Difficulty maintaining focus.
Predominantly Hyperactive/Impulsive Type: Excessive movement or impulsive behaviors.
Combined Type: Includes both inattention and hyperactivity/impulsivity.
ADHD affects approximately 5-15% of children, being twice as common in boys.

Symptoms typically appear between ages 3 to 6, before starting school. However, most cases are diagnosed in elementary school, usually before the age of 12.

Highly Processed Foods
Highly processed foods may contain large amounts of sugar, fats, preservatives, and artificial coloring, which can negatively impact children’s health. Issues include delayed growth, obesity, hyperactivity, lack of focus, behavioral disorders, tooth decay, and digestive problems.

It’s recommended to limit consumption of these foods and opt for natural, homemade alternatives to prioritize children’s health.

Children’s Communication Evolves with Age
Every stage of a child’s development has its unique "language."

Infants communicate through crying and giggling.
Gradually, children begin to form words, increasing their vocabulary.
They develop an understanding of meanings and concepts as they grow.
Up to the age of 10, observable behavior is the dominant form of communication that reflects a child’s limited ability to express themselves.

If we can understand the "language of behavior," we pave the way for effective communication and resolution of challenging behaviors.

Let’s understand our children first, then communicate with them!

Pain Management Department
What’s an alternative to cortisone injections for knee joint pain?
PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma)

Main Benefits:

Pain reduction
Improved joint function
Increased production of natural joint fluid
What Happens to Sickle Cell Patients?
The cartilage in the hips, shoulders, and knees erodes due to inadequate blood supply to the joints.

For cartilage erosion treatment, contact our Chronic Pain Management Clinic.

If you have sickle cell disease and experience joint pain, this information is for you!

What is Sickle Cell Disease?
It’s a hereditary condition affecting red blood cells. Under stress, the cells change from their normal circular shape to a crescent (sickle) shape.

How does it affect joints?
Sickle-shaped cells block small blood vessels, reducing blood supply to joints, leading to cartilage erosion.

Treatment Options:

PRP Injections: High-concentration plasma with platelets.
Protein Stimulator Injections: Repair and restore damaged joint components.
These treatments improve joint function, allowing patients to return to normal activities.

If you suffer from pain or joint erosion (hip, shoulder, or knee) due to sickle cell disease, don’t hesitate to book your appointment at the Pain Management Clinic.
